Please let me know if this worked for you! With this, I am now able to use hitsounds legitimately for the first time without skill loss. In the properties window under the advanced tab, deselect everything that "allows a program to take exclusive control." In the Enhancement tab, also make sure "disable all enhancements" is checked. The solution was simple: UNINSTALL NVIDIA HD AUDIO, Update your Realtek driver, go into Playback Devices, Select the device that you are using (headphones or speakers) and right click>Properties that device. For instance, I would press a key and my computer would recognize my keypress instantly, HOWEVER when the program tried to output the sound to my headphones, the Realtek Audio Drivers would post-process the hitsound (which takes 20-40ms). I have the True Dynamic Sound turned on and this did not solve the issue. Currently have time warner cable box directly connected via HDMI 1. THE FIX: Come to find out, after much research on several DJ and live audio websites, I found that it was the DAMN REALTEK AUDIO DRIVER that was post-processing the signal coming from the osu! program itself, which added the lag. I just bought the Insignia 42' (model NS-L42X-10A ) and have noticed a pretty severe lag in my video versus my audio while on the HD Channels. So, for a year, I chose to play without hitsounds so that I could match up the keypress with the beat of the music. For me, even though I have very low input latency paired with a 144hz 1ms monitor, there was still enough latency between the keypress and the hitsound audio to really mess with my head and completely screw up my streaming ability. THE PROBLEM: No matter what the universal or local offset of the song is, and no matter how low your input lag is (mine is 0.14ms-0.19ms), you will always have a lag associated with the time it takes your computer to make the hitsound noise when you press a key.

If it is fixed, you WILL become a better player.

I wanted to write this short explanation because I believe that not many people know what I am talking about, much less know how to fix it.
